1. Overview
Morandi New Tab (the “Extension”) is a browser new tab page extension. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data the Extension touches, how it is used, and — more importantly — what it does not touch.
In one sentence: the Extension collects nothing, uploads nothing, and shares nothing.
2. We Collect No Data
The Extension:
- Requires no account and no sign-in
- Contains no analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting component
- Contains no advertising and no ad SDKs
- Does not read, transmit, or store any personally identifiable information
- Does not record which websites you use it on
3. Data Processed Locally On Your Device
The following data is processed entirely in your own browser’s memory, to power features you can see. It never leaves your device in any form.

About your search queries: the keywords you type are used only for that search. They are not recorded, not uploaded, and not sent to anyone other than the search engine you chose. If you use a search engine, your browser navigates to that engine’s results page, after which that engine’s own privacy policy applies.
4. The Only Outbound Network Request
The Extension makes one kind of outbound request:
- Target: the Hitokoto API (
https://v1.hitokoto.cn/) - Purpose: fetch a short quote to display in the bottom-right of the new tab page
- Data carried: none. The request contains no user identifier, no device information, no bookmarks, no history, and no search keywords
- Fallback: if the request fails or times out (4.2 s), the Extension silently switches to a built-in offline quote collection (20 Chinese / 20 English). Functionality is unaffected
Beyond this, the Extension communicates with no server.
5. Local Storage
The Extension uses the browser’s chrome.storage.local API to store the
following preferences on your device:
- Default search engine
- Enabled search sources (engines / bookmarks / history)
- Whether the quote is shown, and whether it auto-rotates (every 10 minutes)
- Clock position (top-left / top-right / center / off)
- Interface language (Simplified Chinese / English)
- Whether the top hint bar is visible
- Whether the breathing animation is on, and whether blots are draggable
These settings live on your machine and are not synced to our servers (the Extension has no servers). You can erase them at any time by uninstalling the Extension.
6. Permission Justification

The Extension declares no host permissions and uses no remote code. All
code is bundled in the extension package, enforced by the Content Security
Policy script-src 'self'.
7. Children’s Privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children. Because the Extension collects no user data at all, no child-specific data processing exists.
8. Your Rights
Because the Extension collects none of your data, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you wish to clear the local preferences the Extension has saved, you can:
- Uninstall the Extension; or
- Clear the Extension’s site data in your browser
9. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this document and note it on the Extension’s store listing or in the release notes. We encourage you to review this policy after installing an update.
